Level Accounting & Advisory Named PASBA’s 2026 Small Practice Accounting Firm of the Year

The Professional Association of Small Business Accountants (PASBA) has named Level Accounting & Advisory its 2026 Small Practice Accounting Firm of the Year. Out of PASBA’s national membership, the top honor in the small-practice category went to a construction-specialized team based in Vero Beach, Florida.

We’re proud of it. But more than that, we think it says something about how we’ve chosen to run this firm — so it’s worth explaining what the award actually is and why it matters to the contractors we work with.

What this award actually means

PASBA — the Professional Association of Small Business Accountants — is a national organization of firms that do accounting, tax, and advisory work for small businesses. Each year it recognizes top firms across categories, and Small Practice Accounting Firm of the Year is the highest honor in its category — awarded to one firm.

It isn’t won by being the biggest. It’s recognition for the quality of the work, the way a firm serves its clients, and the standard it holds itself to. Being judged the best small practice in a national association of accountants is exactly the kind of recognition a specialized, boutique firm aims for — and it’s the second time PASBA has singled us out.

In 2023 — under our former name, Stratlign — we were named PASBA’s New Member of the Year. We fully rebranded to Level in 2024 to better reflect the industry we serve. Small Practice Accounting Firm of the Year in 2026 is the same team, the same approach, further down the road.

“Receiving the 2026 PASBA Accounting Firm of the Year award is meaningful because it reflects what our clients across 46 states are experiencing every day — accurate numbers, timely reporting, and a team that understands how contractors actually operate,” said Erin Andrews, Co-Founder & President of Business Development at Level Accounting & Advisory. (Source: Palm Beach Post press release. Why a construction contractor should care

Plenty of accounting firms have awards on the wall. Here’s why this one is relevant if you run a trade business.

Level has done one thing since 2007: accounting built specifically for construction. Not general small-business bookkeeping with a contractor label on it — HVAC, electrical, plumbing, concrete, pool, deck, fencing, and hardscape businesses, handled by a team that understands how contractors actually make and spend money.

When a national association of accountants reviews our work and names us the best small practice of the year, that’s an outside read on something we ask contractors to take on trust: that the people keeping your books actually know what they’re doing. Most contractors wouldn’t recognize bad bookkeeping or a sloppy tax return until it cost them. An award like this is one more signal that you don’t have to.

What this changes for our clients

Honestly? Nothing about the day-to-day. We’re doing the same work for the same contractors we were before the announcement — clean books, tax strategy planned ahead instead of scrambled at the deadline, payroll, 1099s, and audit prep, all inside QuickBooks Online with people you can actually reach.

What the award does is confirm the standard. If you’re a specialty trade contractor doing $1M–$15M in revenue and you’ve been wondering whether a construction-specialized firm is worth it over a generalist down the road, this is your answer in writing from a national body of accountants.
