Business Spotlight: James Peterson Plumbing & Heating

Stratlign started to work with James Peterson at James Peterson Plumbing and Heating last year and it has been a pleasure to assist him in his business journey. It is always inspiring to see people go after their goals and so we want to share with you a bit of James story and words of advice.

Can you describe your business and what you do?

At James Peterson Plumbing and Heating, I work on residential and commercial buildings. I install and maintain plumbing systems, gas hot water heating equipment, mini split air conditioning, and gas piping. I use my past construction experience to venture into complete bathroom remodeling. I service homes and businesses in the upper cape area.

Was there a specific defining moment that made you decide to start your business? Was there a big push?

Yes, approaching my tenth year at my previous job. I sat down and thought about my 5 year goals. I’ve always had a goal to own my own business. I thought to myself “why wait any longer?”, when I felt I was ready in that moment.

Which skills or resources have helped you the most along your business Journey so far?

I think the most important resource I’ve utilized is the strong connection I have with other business owners. Along with becoming a master plumber that has allowed me to hire an apprentice.

What will people get from your business that they won’t get anywhere else?

When you hire me you will get open and honest communication. I’m economical and will not push anything you don’t need. I value high quality work. My work is meticulous every step of the way, in all aspects.

Do you have one piece of advice you would give to someone wanting to start a business of their own?

There’s never a perfect time. With that being said, have a plan, do your research, and bite the bullet!
