As a psychotherapist with 10 years of experience, Jennifer Schneider recently opened her solo private practice. She works with individual adults, couples and relationship groups. She specializes in anxiety, depression, ADHD, chronic illness, working with LGBTQIA+ clients, gender identity, and relationship issues. Additionally, she specializes in working with those who identify as polyamorous / ethically nonmonogamous.

We had the pleasure of conducting a mini Interview that highlights her work, here is how it went:

Can you describe your business?

I have a solo psychotherapy practice, providing therapy, which is 100% telehealth right now. Offering telehealth was the goal from the beginning and the pandemic just so happened to hit around the same time, so it is interesting how it worked out.

Can you talk about why you made the decision to start your own private practice / Why do you do what you do?

As a therapist, I have enjoyed helping individuals develop more effective coping skills, learn greater communication skills, and address symptoms of depression and anxiety. I was working at a group practice previously and wanted to try a solo practice to be able to offer telehealth, making therapy more accessible for those who need it. It is also a plus having the flexibility to travel and be able to work with clients from almost anywhere.

What are some possible mental health tips to cope with our still current reality?

I encourage people to stay connected and get outside whenever possible!

What are your biggest challenges as a business owner so far?

I think the first challenge was getting started and finding help with the business and finance aspect of things.

What skills have helped you the most along your business journey?

I believe the skills that helped me most along my business journey is my ability to connect with a wide variety of people and having a strong network as well as enjoying learning the business and finance side of things.
